Amiga Platform Information
The following is a first attempt at an introduction to the Amiga platform.
For a platform with such a complicated history, there are bound to be mistakes
and errors, so if you find any please let me
know and I will endeavour to correct them!
Most of these sections are not done yet or are incomplete, please have
patience this is a big project!
There are litterally thousands of Amiga-oriented web sites, news groups,
file archives and so on. The following is a small directory of some of
the places you may want to check out if you are discovering the Amiga for
the first time or are looking for more information.
USENET Newsgroups
Of course there are loads more in other hierarchies, notably alt, and it
is always worth checking to see if your ISP runs an Amiga newsgroup of
their own on their news server, especially as the ones above can get very
busy.
FTP Archives
-
AmiNet - the only one you need! Officially
the world's largest publically available software archive, AmiNet contains
literally gigabytes upon gigabytes of software for the Amiga. And as if
that wasn't good enough, a lot of it is free too! The link is to the main
archive in the US, but there are plenty of mirrors all around the world
so I suggest you find the one which is closest to you.
